Subject: All Tenants – Security Safe Walks

The seasons are changing and that too, means that the time change is upon us.  The days are getting shorter which in turn, reduces the amount of daylight we see as we come and go from work.  Our situational awareness when walking to and from work, our vehicles, and just walking down the street should not be reduced, it should be the opposite, it should be elevated.  We are all so busy with our thoughts and electronics that distract us as we come and go from work, especially when the colder weather arrives, as we hurry along without really observing the areas around us to quickly get out of the inclement weather.  The Edmonton City Centre Security team is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for those who work here.  We care about the health and safety of all our tenants and their employees and this reminder to always be aware of your surroundings is being sent out with just that in mind – your safety.

One of the services that the ECC Security team provides for your business and your employees, is that of a Safe Walk program.  If you are working late, the Security team can walk with you to your vehicle or to a transit stop surrounding ECC. This service can also be provided for someone coming into work early and wants to be escorted to their office.

The number to call for a Safe Walk is 780-426-8441.  Keep this number in your cell phone.  This is also the number to call for a Security response in case of an emergency.  Safe Walks are provided upon request and there may be a wait time due to unforeseen circumstances/emergencies or other Safe Walks taking place.

Please keep in mind that the Security team cannot take a Safe Walk off Edmonton City Centre property, however they can walk you to a surrounding bus stop or your vehicle in the parkades.  When requesting a Safe Walk, always give the exact location where you are and the destination desired.  After making the request for a Safe Walk, wait for the Security escort at the location specified.  Please remember that you cannot reserve a Safe Walk time.  You must call when you need the Safe Walk escort.

Social distancing protocols are to be recognized and adhered to during a Safe Walk, with 6ft distance between the Security Agent and the employee(s).  When indoors, face masks are mandatory.
